Always Painted

I led the Shopify site build and social media graphics for Painted Lipwear — a full-bleed, wine-and-blush brand system built to feel as premium as the client wanted her customers to feel wearing it.

The Brief

I came in to build Painted Lipwear a home that matched the ambition of the product. The brand already had a strong name and a loyal "#PaintedBabe" community — what it didn't have was a Shopify storefront and a social presence that felt as regal as the lip products themselves.

My job was two-fold: design and build the Shopify site from the ground up, then extend that same system into a set of launch and promo graphics the client could run across Instagram from day one.

  • ADesign a Shopify storefront that felt "clean and regal," not templated
  • BCarry the wine-and-blush palette from the site into every social post
  • CGive the #PaintedBabe community a visual identity worth reposting

The Shopify Build

The homepage I designed and built out, top to bottom. Pins mark the decisions I made along the way.

1A headline that sets the tone first
"Every shade, every mood. Always Painted." leads the homepage before a single product does — I wanted the feeling of the brand to land before the shopping starts.
2Shade-finder row under the fold
Three model close-ups act as an informal shade guide right under the hero — I placed it there so undecided shoppers have a next step before they scroll past.
3Community language, not just sales copy
"Hey #PaintedBabe!" — I wrote the promo banner to speak to the existing community by name rather than as a generic shopper.
4Bestseller grid kept simple
Plain white product tiles under the wine-and-pink banners — I kept these deliberately quiet so the products, not the layout, do the selling here.

What the Client Said

"
Absolutely no revisions — I cried while viewing. It's so clean and regal looking. 10/10, an exceptional job.

The Social Set

I carried the same wine-and-blush system straight from the site into four launch posts — a payment-options post, a restock alert, a "coming soon" teaser, and a #PaintedBabe brand post.

The System

One palette, one script logo, one bold headline face — used identically across the site and every social tile.

Colour
Wine
#4B0220
Blush
#F2AEBB
Cream Pink
#FBE7EB
White
#FFFFFF

Just wine and blush, swapped in and out as background vs. accent — never both at once on the same tile. That's what keeps the whole set feeling considered rather than decorated.

A script logotype for warmth, a heavyweight condensed sans for every headline — I never let the two mix roles across the set.

Why It Works

One system, two surfaces
Building the site and the social set together, not separately, meant the palette and type never had to be reverse-engineered later — they were locked from the first homepage draft.
Speaks to the community by name
"#PaintedBabe" shows up on the site, the payment post, and the brand post — the same audience language everywhere, not a one-off hashtag.
Delivered with zero revision rounds
The client's own words were "absolutely no revisions" — proof the brief was locked in before I opened the design file, not fixed after the first draft.
