Design Case Study

From Scattered Feed to On‑Brand System

Two Instagram grid transformations, documented step by step — the thinking, the system, and the templates behind each one.

Context

The Brief

Both clients came to me with the same core problem: strong offers, no visual system. Posts were going up ad hoc — different fonts, clashing colors, no repeatable structure — so nothing looked cohesive enough to build brand recall or make people stop scrolling.

My job was to turn each feed into a system: a locked palette, a repeatable type pairing, and a set of templates the client (or their team) could reuse indefinitely without hiring a designer for every post.

Scope
Full Instagram grid & story template system
Deliverables
24 editable post templates + a brand style guide
My Role
Strategy, palette, typography, template design
Outcome
A plug-and-play system that keeps every post on-brand, without me
Scope Of Work

What I Did & What I Didn’t

So there’s no confusion about my role on either project — this is exactly where my work started and stopped.

✓
What I Did
  • Designed the color palette and typography system for each brand
  • Built the reusable, editable Instagram templates (Canva-ready)
  • Structured the content grid and layout rhythm
  • Wrote a short style guide so the system stays consistent
−
What I Didn’t Do
  • Didn’t manage the account or schedule any posts
  • Didn’t write captions or publish content
  • Didn’t take or select the original photos used in the templates
  • Didn’t run ads, community management, or engagement
Case Study 01

The Moody Lavender System

Client: content creator / coach — goal was a scroll-stopping, batchable feed.
BEFORE
before
AFTER
after
›One lavender palette — zero clashing tones across all 12 tiles
›Serif headline + clean sans body, repeated on every template
›“You’ll want to save this” hooks written into the templates

What I Actually Did Here

01
Locked a moody lavender palette
Pulled every photo through the same lavender-toned edit so 12 different shoots read as one cohesive feed.
02
Paired a serif headline with a clean sans body
Same two typefaces on every tile — the pairing itself becomes a recognizable brand signal.
03
Built reusable prompt & weekly-flow templates
Two core layouts the client can duplicate and re-fill in Canva in minutes, no design skill required.
04
Mapped a 12-slide content rhythm
Alternated value posts, behind-the-scenes, and soft-sell so the grid reads intentional at a glance.

Case Study 02

The “Boss Colors” Template System

Client: entrepreneur / small team — goal was a minimalist pack anyone could run alone.
BEFORE
before
AFTER
after
›Editable title / subtitle placeholder on every single slide
›One soft, editorial photo tone runs through the whole grid
›Checklist-style template built specifically to earn saves

What I Actually Did Here

01
Simplified to one lavender-and-white system
Stripped the palette down to two tones so the templates stay calm and legible at any size.
02
Built plug-and-play title / subtitle placeholders
Every template has a labeled text slot, so a new post takes minutes, not a design session.
03
Unified the photography tone
Same soft, editorial light and crop ratio across every image slot, even across different shoots.
04
Added a checklist carousel template
A save-worthy format built specifically to lift saves and shares, not just likes.

Result

The System Behind Every Transformation

01
Audit
Review the existing feed for color, tone, and message inconsistency.
02
Palette & Type
Lock a color story and a repeatable font pairing.
03
Template Build
Design a reusable set of posts for every content pillar.
04
Handoff & Guide
Deliver templates with a simple guide so content stays on-brand.
Why It Works

Systems Beat One-Off Posts

01
Instant recognition
A locked palette and type pairing means every post is recognizable before anyone reads a word.
02
Faster content creation
Templates cut content time from hours to minutes — no design skill required to stay on-brand.
03
More saves & shares
Save-worthy formats (checklists, prompts) are built into the system, not left to chance.

This is the kind of system I build into every client’s feed.

Palette. Typography. Templates. Consistency.
